Sweet & Desist
Dear Big Tech,
As the creators of Real Life Likes, aka Sweethearts, we must sweetly but strongly insist you remove the “Like” Button from your social media platforms.
In 1902, we invented an original way to express like and affection. More than 100 years later, you began using a heart-shaped button for a similar purpose. And at first, we liked that.
But it’s come to our attention that your “Like” doesn’t mean like the way we mean like. So, not only are you low-key infringing on our intellectual property, you’re confusing the children.
We know this letter must come as a bit of a shock, which is why we’ve included some replacements for the “Like” Button. What about:
The "Heard" Button
The "Seen" Button
The "K" Button
The "Cool Story Bro" Button
The "Tl;dr" Button
The "Big Yikes" Button
The "Tap Twice" Button
The "Didn't Mean To Tap That" Button
The "Only Tap If It Improves Your Algorithm" Button
The "Heard" Button
The "Seen" Button
The "Cool Story Bro" Button
The "Tl;dr" Button
The "Big Yikes" Button
The "Tap Twice" Button
The "Didn't Mean To Tap That" Button
The "Only Tap If It Improves Your Algorithm" Button
But whatever you go with it, please use something other than “Like” because your button doesn’t fully express an appreciation for the things that make life sweeter.
In case our people don’t speak with your people before February 14, have a Happy Valentine’s Day.
